I was not sure what to call this picture but I did take it on Halloween so Halloween moon seemed appropriate. I am very much a novice at moon pictures but I thought this one was very cool.
I had to take a lot of pictures to get the shot. At first I thought something was wrong with the camera as it would not take the picture. Then I remembered that my daughter had told me to point the camera towards a light hold the shutter down half way and then point towards what your target is and take your shot. You would not believe some of the pictures I came up with I had the moon shooting across the sky at one point. I'm glad I kept trying as I finally ended up with a unique moon picture.

Marchel,
Moon shots are a lot of fun to take, and as you have discovered, require several tries to get a good one - which you did. :)
Steve
Hi Marchel,
Great shot, it looks like you're on a tropical island somewhere.
Moon shots can be a pill can't they? Good thing you kept trying as this came out great.
Marchel, I am always trying to get a good moon shot, looks very good peeking through those palms!
Nifty looking photo Marchel! I was expecting a vampire to leap out from behind the foliage. . . Perhaps I was only wishful thinking:-)
Wow. That's a super clear picture!!!!
It was so close to a full moon.... kinda nice!
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Marchel, That's a great photo, you got such a clear shot and I love the trees. We had a beautiful Halloween moon in Virginia too.
I like how you framed the moon with the palm trees, Marchel. Beautiful picture. I am curious about the rounded edge structure to the right.
Hi Marchel - Looks a tropical moonrise! Very nice shot you captured :)
Debi
Marchel--I think it is very cool that you shared this as I remember the moon on Halloween. From our view we had just clearing clouds so it was kind of spooky. Look at how clear the sky was in Texas. Very interesting to see the same moon from thousands of miles away at about the same time. And there are no palm trees here either. :)
The moon on Halloween was so Halloweenish! Great shot :) I love that you took it with all the palm trees in the same shot.
Marchel, Thanks for the tip. I never seem to get a nice shot of the moon, this one is just beautiful.
STEVE, This was my first try at a moon shot and after a bunch of rejects I was so excited when I got this one.
LYNDA, My tropical island was in your neck of the woods; San Diego. I was visiting a friend over Halloween.
JESSE, Now if I could just figure out the sunrise or sunset shots. I saw the most beautiful sunrise while I was there but my shots were AWFUL.
ANDREA, This was my first try with the moon; now if I could just figure out those sunset and sunrise shots!!!
MYRL, I don't see any vampires but there is something kind of brown down at the bottom of the shot.
LOREENA, Thanks! I love my Canon digital XTi. I have to give it the credit!
CHARLES, It was very close to a full moon. My moon is so small it looks full but you are right there was just a little bit left to make it full.
DEBBIE, There must have been nice weather across the country because a lot of people saw this almost full moon that night.
BRUCE, I was visiting a friend in San Diego. She lives in a complex across the street from the San Diego Yacht Club and the complex is circular. That way everyone has a view of the bay. It did make a nice frame in the picture.
Marchel, I don't think that I have ever seen a moon shot taken through palm trees. Very very nice.
DEBI, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Usually my nice capture shots are my daughters but this one was all mine.
TERI, I was actually in San Diego visiting a friend but my local friends here have commented on my moon picture and they said it was beautiful here also. It connects us all; doesn't it!
JIM & MARIA, I was at a party and was talking about liking to take pictures and one of the gals looked up and said you need to get that. I ran for my camera and with quite a few tries I got this result.
CAROLE, Your welcome. It is actually a tip from my daughter.
Marchel I love your moon shot and it looked great behind the palm branches.
Hi Marchel - A shot of those palm trees from that position is unique. Now tell the truth.... Did you paint that white dot on the dark part of the pic? (smile)
JENNIFER, I loved the way the palm tree and the apartment framed the shot.
DIANE, It is so round it does look like it was painted on. You should have seen the pictures where it was a streak of light.
Hi Marchel, Me and that Halloween Moon had a few go-rounds! I found it very difficult to capture. You got a great shot and I like the way it is framed by the palms!
I agree. You did get a unique picture. You do realize, though, that the moon really does shoot across the sky. It takes only about 10 hours for it to travel thousands of miles. Wish my car went that fast.
Marchel
Funny how that Big Ole Moon looks so big until you print the photo......I have never figured that one out.
Marchel, my camera does that also sometimes. The guy at Ritz Camera said it wasn't focusing, so focus it on something close - which is what you're doing, then with the button half pressed, take the shot. Works for me too!
It's hard to take moon pics, great job. Love the foxtail palm trees!
