One of the many things I love about Spring TX is how close we are to Lake Conroe. We keep our sailboat out at Lake Conroe and I took this picture yesterday when we were out there.

Hi Marchel~ You took the perfect picture! Love the bird's reflection in the lake. That lake is so tranquil and relaxing!
Marchel
How peaceful, and how warm looking. My son was ice fishing today and the lake has 14 inches of ice on it already.
Marchel, I just love photos of the water. You captured the clarity and reflection perfectly!
Marchel - That's a spectacular shot! Especially that you were able to catch the gull, and the reflection of the blue sky on the water. Congratulations also! This picture is being featured in the "Photos" group!
Hi Marchel,
Beautiful show, looks like your daughter's talent has rubbed off on you.
Marchel, what a great action shot! How did you do that? Nice job!
VICKIE, It was a tranquil day at the lake. It would not have been a good day to be sailing as there was no wind and the water was like glass. We were looking at lifts.
TOM, OH MY 14 inches of ice. We had a cold snap and it got down to 19 one night and we thought it was AWFUL. Now we did move here from the cold north but we have TOTALLY acclimated.
YVETTE & DENNIS, Thank you! I love pictures of the water also! I also love bird pictures so was excited when I uploaded my pictures and found this.
GARY, I had not thought of that but you are right it kind of does look like double boats and double birds.
MYRL, Thanks for the feature. The gull is actually a blue heron but he was at a bit of an odd angle. I took the pictures so quick when he took off that I had no idea what I had until I got home.
LYNDA, I thank you but a whole lot of it is having the right camera equipment.
MARNEY, I click, click, click! I just take lots of pictures and then hope that one comes out. I actually didn't think I had anything so was so pleased when I pulled this one up.
Marchel, first let me say that is one beautiful photo, congrats on the feature from the Photos group!
Now... may I address one thing?
You said... I took this picture yesterday when we were out there.
OK, I am officially jealous. Just to be clear on that point.
I like your picture, Marchel. I can't imagine what fun it would be to go sailing. Once underway I imagine it would be nothing but the sound of the wind. That must be so relaxing, yet exhilarating!
Love how you caught the great blue heron in flight!
Marchel,
Beautiful picture, you should put the watermarks stuff, so you will not have any problems about that someone took it :P
Take care !
Lake Conroe is where I had my first sailboat! And my first ski boat! Sure glad I got all that boating out of my system early in my life. LOL
Hi Marchel...You captured that wonderful feeling that water gives so many of us. It looks so peaceful. I'm sure you have a great time every time you go there.
Kate
Marchel, love the picture. It is going to be a few more months before any one is able to sail their sailboat around here.
ANDREA, I would not have been saying that last week. I was on the whining side of having 20 degree temperatures. We are spoiled. It does however get a little steamy here in July and August. I have found I can handle steamy a lot better than I handle the cold though.
BRUCE, YES that is exactly what sailing is like. Our first sailboat was named Sanity as I envisioned just kicking back and letting the wind take us away. Now my husband had other ideas and got in to racing. We ended up selling Sanity and our next sail boat we named Insanity. I finally got out of crewing when I accidentally knocked him off the boat at the bay. I still love sailing but now just get to have fun sailing and not racing.
RAY, I go back and forth on the watermark. I actually don't mind someone using my photo I just don't want them to take my photo without asking.
RUSSELL, So what kind of a sailboat did you have? We have a Catalina 22 and a sun fish.
KATE, I love being around the water and just find it so relaxing sailing across the water. Now I DO NOT love racing across the lake like my husband. We have worked it out though. I now go on the committee boat and take pictures and my husband races across the lake.
GEORGE, One of the many things we love about living here is the fact that we can sail almost all year. My husbands last race is the first Saturday in December and the next races start in March. Occasionally we sail in January and February but it is not often. That however leaves the rest of the year.
Lovely shot of the lake, Marchel! Is that a heron?
Debi
Beautifully captured Marchel ! Is that a crane or a heron ? Either way, he's so graceful just gliding over that water. Very nicely done !
DEBI, It is a heron! I was trying to get a close up of him but he was having none of that!!
SHELDON, It is a heron and you are right they are so graceful. We lived in North Carolina for a couple of years. Our house backed to a little lake and one of my memories is of a heron gently walking across the ice on the lake. Mind you there's not much ice on the lake in NC so I was sure he/she was going to fall in.
Marchel, I will make a note to never buy a sailboat, or at least not take my wife along! ^_~ We have a great blue heron that graces our pond every now and then and it is amazing to watch them catch their fish. The heron always catch more fish than I do when we are fishing at the same time. Fascinating creatures!
Marchel what a nice shot! Yesterday? Okay I want to leave NY! Between Georgina's Hawaiian pictures and Sandy Shores Florida pics you guys are all killing me! LOL
BRUCE, I LOVE sailing I just DON'T love racing (lol). I LOVE watching Herons. I have several statue herons surrounding our very small waterfall/pond in the back yard. There's NO WAY they are going to land in my yard.
DEBRA, You would not want to be here today, it is DREARY! I just joined the animal photography group. I put an old post on right away The Contortionist. That post was kicked out of the animals are people too group and it didn't have its fifth home after that. I never understood why it was kicked out of the group but to each their own. I'm also no longer a member of that group. I put up quite a few animal post so appreciate a place to put them.
I think I need to go by the lake more often. Between your picture and the pictures from Paul Henderson, the water always looks so pieceful.
Marchel-I have never deleted a post yet honey so WELCOME!!!!!
Looks like balmy weather - good for sailing - thanks for making us jealous! Husband want a boat... perhaps we will get one next year... then i'd be able to identify with you! Enjoy as much as you can!
JOHN, It is not always this peaceful but it was sure nice after all the yucky weather we have been having.
DEBRA, Thanks! I'm sure I will enjoy the group.
DIANE, If you buy a boat make sure your husband does not get in to racing. Otherwise you might have to accidentally knock him off the boat to get out from being his crew.
Marchel, this is a perfect that many of us strive to take. Well done!
Hi Marchel -- Wow, what a picture, with the wingtip almost touching the water. There is nothing like water. I've only been sailing once (apart from being in the Navy for 4 years) and boy, was it a lot of work, and fun -- we went out on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland for a fun-filled sunny day once, I fondly remember this even after all these years.
Marchel what a beautiful shot. Water can make such a great subject.
LEOLINDA, I have to give most of the credit to the camera. I was not able to get shots like this before getting my Canon digital rebel XTi.
CHRIS, Depending on the wind sailing can be a lot of work. Now my perfect sailing weather is a light wind that keeps you moving but where you don't have to work your tail off. Now my husbands perfect weather would be just the opposite.
JENNIFER, I have ALWAYS been attracted to the water. We lived in NC for a couple of years and backed up to a little lake and loved it. We have had to make ourselves content with visiting the lake living here.
Marchel,
This is an awesome photo! I love the bird.
Ann Hayden in foggy Wildwood, MO
Very cool Marchel. I can't wait to the Spring to get back out on the water.
