The Texas Association of REALTORS® along with NAR and a few additional organizations have launched two websites to help consumers with real estate issues.
www.KeepMyTexasHome.org is a resource for Texas homeowners who have become or may become behind on their mortgages. The site outlines the foreclosure process in Texas. It is an ideal site for a consumer who may be facing foreclosure to get some answers. It has a section on "what you can do" and another section on "what if you can't stay in your home". It also has a section on "renters and foreclosure".
www.TxHomePrograms.com is part of an NAR pilot program. This program offers a continuously updated database of state-wide affordable-housing programs. It allows the consumer to search for specific types of programs. It also has a real estate glossary and provides helpful consumer information. A good example would be issues on predatory lending.

Marchel, these site look like they could be of help to folks who might be in a predicament! The best thing is that there are far fewer foreclosures in Texas these days than other places and I hope it stays that way!

RUSSELL, I hope our foreclosure situation doesn't increase also. I keep hearing that the next batch of arms from 2005 are about ready to cycle so I guess we shall know here soon.
CHERISE, I like the TX home programs also. Our consumers are web savvy and like to get all the information they can from the Internet.

Marchel, I'm going to have to find out if Pennsylvania has websites like these. I'm sure many facing foreclosure are just so overwhelmed that they may not know where to begin.
Great way to help out Marchel - Here in California we have so many scams that we are told to point consumers in the direction of the DRE to make sure the sites are approved!
Marchel what a great resource for consumers. With so many stressed out because of the challenges they are facing it is nice to have a place to get reliable information.
