Recently our daughter was in town and we took a girls day and went to the Houston Zoo. I thought this Andean Bear was the highlight of the zoo. He/She got in the goofiest positions. It appears he/she is giving thanks! I'm glad that we were on the other side of the fence as I would not want to be the meal the bear is giving thanks for.
We both had our cameras and I was trying to learn how to set the f-stops but I didn't quite get it down so this is our daughter's picture.

Marchel - I can see why you'd find this bear a highlight. What unique facial markings!
Marchel, what an amazing looking bear! I have never seen one like this, not in person OR in a picture. Wow! Great shot by your great photographer daughter!
Marchel ~ Sounds like you had a wonderful day at the zoo with your daughter.. I think the bear agrees!
Howdy and evenen to ya Marchel
That sure is a mighty fine photo, of that Andean Bear. Your daughter sure is a fine photographer.
That bear looks like he's smiling!
Marchel, I thought that he was smiling also, either way it is a great photo!
Great picture Marchel. Yes, f-stops can be tricky especially if you are doing them on the fly. Practice, practice, practice...
Helping you help others live their American dream...
Marchel f-stops will get you every time, but at least you had your daughter's picture :)
The big guy looks quite content! He must have a day off:)
Looks like the bear was posing for your daughter and the camera. Have a great start to your week. Cherise
I love this picture. I want to hug that little critter. How cute.
shelton
Nice picture, thanks for sharing, I hope your day at the zoo was very enjoyable.
That bear is smiling! He seems friendly, but he may be smiling because he thinks you look delicious! :o)
KAREN, My picture just didn't get those facial features the way my daughter's picture did. Which is of course why I put her picture on.
ANDREA, Isn't that a cool bear shot. We actually have another shot where he/she was laying on their back with all paws in the air. I have it for another day!
MONIQUE, We did have a wonderful day at the zoo!! I'm not a shopper so this was much better than our shopping adventures. I did not like school shopping so she would take her Aunt (lol).
DALE, I'm impressed with her photography. We have the same darn camera and hers turned out so much better than mine did.
JIM, That bear was a hoot and I agree he/she appears to be smiling!
TONY, I think he/she is smiling and saying thank you for this food I am about to partake.
MICHAEL, I took my camera which is exactly like our daughters (a Canon Rebel XTi) and set the same f stops as she did and hers turned out so much better. She told me it takes practice so I will continue practicing.
KAREN, My pictures were not awful they just were not as good as our daughters. I guess I need to practice, practice, practice.
BILL, He was enjoying his day. Just before this he/she was laying on his/her back with all paws in the air.
CHERISE, That was a posing bear. VERY CUTE! I hope you have a great week also.
Marchel, I think I would have been giving thanks that I was not his next meal ......... LOL
Marchel - I have seen a lot of bears in my life, by accident and on purpose. . .BUT I have never seen an Andean Bear. They have very different looking facial markings! And, he looks like he is smiling!
SHELTON, He does look like a hug-able bear but he also looks like he is ready for mealtime.
DIANE, We had a great day at the zoo. I don't get to spend much time with my young adult children so I will take what I can get.
ANN, That is exactly how the picture struck me; which is why I called it giving thanks. I'm just thankful I was not dinner.
GEORGE, I'm with you and I'm glad I was not his/her next meal.
MYRL, I have to admit that is my first Andean Bear also. Leave it to my daughter to make sure that she gets all the names of the pictures she takes. Every picture on her Flickr site has the name of what the animal is (lol).
Good morning Marchel,
What a wondefrul photo! I can see why this was your favorite at the zoo..he does look like he is smiling!
I like his/her big smile for the camera. Looks like they are people watching.
Hi Marchel, What an interesting face! I guess I have never seen an Andean bear. He does look a little hungry, I think :-)
Pretty interesting look on the bears face and what a nice way to spen the day with your daughter ! I hope all continues to be well with you and yours!
Marchel very interesting animal but one I would not want to run into :)
I use the Program setting when I'm at the Zoo or somewhere that I don't have time to play around with all the settings. I don't like the auto program setting, but the program setting is very good on the Canon Rebel XSi.
Marchel-When I read the caption and saw the picture, I thought it was you giving thanks that you got away from the bear! LMAO
Marchel
beautiful looking bear; she looks like she is pretty content and enjoying the attention of the on lookers.
Marchel,
My daughter's christian school class is taking a field trip to the Memphis zoo next week and I believe I will go. I always enjoy seeing the animals.
Very cute. I can remember many, many trips to the Houston zoo.
