Results Realty Buzz: YouTube celebrates 5 years of video posting today!!

Informing you on the Real Estate Market in Spring Texas and the surrounding areas and other interesting tid bits!

YouTube celebrates 5 years of video posting today!!

I was listening to the news tonight and heard that today is the fifth anniversary of YouTube's video posting.  I decided to do some investigation about YouTube's birthday and found a link to an article that will give you statistics galore.

If you have not ever seen it before here's that very first video.

That little 19 second video changed our world.  I'm sure it changed the world for Jawed Karim who sold YouTube to Google for 1.65 billion dollars.

I'll be honest had your told me 5 years ago that I would be embedding YouTube videos to my blog I would have told you that you were speaking a foreign language but now it is just routine.

Happy Birthday YouTube!!

Marchel...1.65 billion... what a price tag!  Thanks for sharing the first YouTube video. Yes, I have taken advantage of YouTube for video tours as well. The more exposure my listings can get...the better!!

Marchel...

Wow, I guess that I thought that YouTube has been around longer than that. The world of technology really does move fast!

Not sure how to post you tube when I blog, but I can see the benefits to all of us in the industry and to share with the AR community.

YouTube has sure come a long way in 5 years - there was a time when the quality was such that I would never use it for my slideshows.

Hi Marchel,

Like so many others, I too thought YT had been around much longer. I've had a lot of fun with it myself, not only for real estate, but also for connecting with family members.

Marchel,

When I was growing up my mom used to actuallly write out scripts and have me and my brothers and sisters act out these plays in front of the camera.  It always seemed like in our house we were filming.

Now as an adult, video is a bit different to get used to....we just plug away though, it's becoming more the norm and a good way to connect.

It's truly amazing how quickly technology is evolving and how quick we are to absorb it into our lives. Now it's hard to imagine not having YouTube.

I have never seen a you tube video but sounds interesting. My business model is different so I don't jump through all those hoops. But maybe I ought to venture out.

Marchel, it does not seem that long.  I can remember the announcement when the guy that created it sold it for a boat load of money.

JOAN, I was thinking YouTube was much older so was surprised when I heard the blurb on the news.  I was totally surprised when I then googled and found out how it started.

SONJA, He looks so young there and just think he is only 5 years older.  I hope all that money has made him happy and not sad!

LIZ, I had no idea that YouTube was only 5 years old.  It seems like we have had it forever!

DALE, I'm having fun with my flip but need to keep it with me all the time.  I regretted not having it at my women's meeting this last month.

RAY, You are right he does not have to work.  I just hope all that money makes him happy and does not make his life sad.

RICHARD, I'm with you and was AMAZED when I heard that YouTube was only 5 years old.  I got on board a couple of years ago and now I realize I was not that late to the party.

WILLIAM, I would not have a clue how to come up with the code.  It appears that Jawed hit the jackpot.

MELINDA, It is hard to keep up with technology.  I must say though that the rain helps keep me in touch!

KAREN, It is a crazy technology world. Just a few minutes ago I was  googling the NYC subway system for my daughter, me here in Texas, as she was looking for the N in NYC.  Who would have thought!!

DON, It is actually very easy.  You go to the Youtube that you want to copy and go to embed.  You then copy the code and then go to your blog.  You have to go the HTML side.  You then paste the code where you want it to go.  I like mine to be centered so I put <center> and then at the end of the code </center>.  That's it.  If you have any problems email me and I will be happy to help.  I have written my website in HTML since 2000; which has helped me learn to code the good old fashioned way.

DAN, I'm not even sure where I saw it. It would have had to be Foxs or I might have read it through my drudge feed.

HANNAH, I have not joined the group Express with Video but I will now.  I made a video for my website that has had about 800 views which is very cool.  I've never put it on the rain but that might be a good idea to get even more exposure.

DEBI, I was not paying attention when the quality was bad.  It is very cool now!

LYNDA, I have loved your YouTube videos.  I put one on my website that gets a lot of hits.

REBECCA, We have a number of years where pictures are missing because we were doing that 8mm film.  We then  had them put on to the VCR tapes which are now OBSOLETE.  UGH I guess we need to now have them put on disc.

CHERISE, Isn't it amazing that it has only been 5 years; it has flown.  I hope you are having a nice weekend with all the elements.  My sister has been in the middle of snow in Elizabeth.  I'm coming in two weeks for Mother's day and I'm hoping it gets it out of its system and the weather is nice for my visit.  I've lucked out the last two years so I'm hoping it continues.

JOHN, Isn't that the truth.  I remember when I embedded my first YouTube video.  I also remember going over to WYSIWYG and losing EVERYTHING!  I've learned my lesson and the video goes in last.

CHARLES, The gentleman who helps me with my SEO told me a year ago that I needed to get one on my website so I made the plunge.  The flip mino is EASY to use and has made it quite easy.

GEORGE, I remember that also.  Look how young he is to have that boatload of money.  I hope it has made his life happy.  As I get older I realize that money does not necessarily equate to happiness.  I have a friend who comes from old money and as much as I love her it has not made for a happy life for her.

Hi Marchel,

How very true it is!  Now when I don't have my computer right next to me and the convenience to get things out there and to people with just the click of a button... I feel totally out of touch!  Hope you are having a great weekend :>)

Dawn, Isn't it funny how we live in the age of automatic EVERYTHING!!  It does make us spoiled!  I have not added my email to my cell phone as I just have not wanted to (mainly because I don't like my phone) but I know that day is coming.  Well when I get a new phone that I like.
