The video below touched my heart this morning. As the first Gulf War was starting we went to some air races in Denver. There were not many military planes present as most of them had been sent over to the middle east. There was however one F-15 that shot straight in to the sky as they played "I'm Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood. I have never forgot hearing the song as I saw the jet soaring straight up in to the sky. It just made me so proud to be an American.
Since then I have seen many videos using Lee Greenwood's music but this one just touched my heart. It is a tribute to the American GI and ends with. "Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you Jesus Christ and the American GI. One died for your soul, the other died for your freedom."
When we went to the Air Races our son was just a little guy. I had NO IDEA at the time that he would go on to join the Army and serve two tours of Iraq. I'm one of the lucky ones as he came home and is now a college student.
Please pray for our men and women who stand in harms way to protect us as. Freedom is not FREE!!

Marchel,
Thanks for the post and remembering our servicemen. I love this song and will play it several time today.
Thanks for sharing this moving video on the special weekend. Never forget
Marchel, I really liked the last thoughts at the end of the video and oh, how true!!! I appreciate you posting this and your charge for us to remember to pray for our men and women in the service!
Marchel--They did a great job with this video...thanks for sharing. It is important to never forget all of those brave men and women who have served or are continuing ot serve in the military to protect our freedom!
Thanks for sharing - this is the time of the year when I think most about my younger siblings as both my brother and sister are currently serving in the Army. He is in Iraq and she is currently in Washington State and is headed to Afghanistan in a few months.
Congratulations this post is now featured in the Silent Majority Group of Active Rain.
Very nice Marchel! I enjoyed seeing the troops pictures, especially! Hope you had a great 4th!
We salute your son's patronage to our country! You must be very proud...
Marchel, it is amazing how things in our past, become reality in our future. Happy 4th of July.
You are SO right, its not free at all. I love that song. VERY Patriotic!
MIKE, I love the song also and thought this was well done!
HARRY, My Dad Harry was in World War II driving a supply truck to the front line. (He turns 93 on Thursday.) We need to never forget that freedom is not free. We have those that have fought and died that we may be FREE.
BRUCE, I also loved that last thought and decided to include it in the body of my post.
TERI, I thought they did a GREAT job on the video.
JENNIFER, I would love to get their addresses to send some care packages. My son loved those packages. At Christmas I always write a post on how to mail flat rate packages to our troops! Thank your siblings for their service!
NICHOLAS, Thanks for the feature! To me getting a feature from the Silent Majority is an HONOR! This is probably my favorite group!
JANE,We did have a wonderful 4th! What a joy to have our son to enjoy it with!
CHERISE, I am proud of him! He just got accepted to Texas A&M engineering program so I am doubly proud!!
GEORGE, Isn't that the truth! I can so remember our son at that air show and had no idea what the future held.
JOHN. That song just says it ALL!!
Marchel,
A great post for our Independence Day. Our troops deserve all of the support that we can give them. They are giving their all for us.
