One of the many things that I love about living in Spring TX is the easy access to Lake Conroe. We are members of Lake Conroe Sailing Association and these pictures are from their recent Spinnaker Run. It was a busy day at the lake. If you look to the very top you will see a row of helicopters (they almost look like bugs in the sky). Below that was a plane that was taking pictures of the sailboats flying their spinnakers. Then of course below that are the sail boats with their spinnakers.
It was a windy day at the lake the day of the Spinnaker Run so the spinnakers were only up for a short time.
If you would like more information about joining Lake Conroe Sailing Association visit the Lake Conroe Sailing Association's website. Membership is a deal at $35 a year. You don't have to own a sailboat to join. Every Thursday evening (weather permitting) we have a sailboat race starting at the lighthouse. Come join us (like I said you don't have to own a sailboat); someone is always looking for crew.

The Spinnaker Run looks like it was a lot of fun. If I lived near Lake Conroe I would take you up on joining the sailing association. Sailing is so enjoyable! Thanks for the pictures!
Marchel: We live at a lake, we don't sail but enjoy watching others sail. We have been out on a sailboat, it is spiritual and so peaceful.

Marchel I know how much you enjoy sailing so you chose the right area to live in. I agree with you membership of $35 to join Lake Canoe Sailing Association is a steal.
Beautiful shots!
Oh, Marchel, your post about the Lake Conroe Sailing Association makes me long for the days spent on my Catalina sailboat, The Drizzler, on Lake Charles. Hours and hours of fun on my boat and crewing for others. Of course, Lake Conroe is much bigger so I suspect your regatta's are even more impressive. Thanks for taking me down memory lane!!!
Marchel -- the water looks so inviting. I love the photos and I am imagining myself at Lake Conroe.
Such beautiful and clear pictures......you must have a great camera.
Hi Marchel,
Great photos, not sure but the plane looks like a sea plane to me. The $35 a year sounds like a deal!
Hi Marchel, A beautiful and captivating post. The colors and the cloud formations make one feel like they are there. Well done!
Love the photos.....I see a Sea Plane in the background. Those are a blast too!
One of these days I am going to give sailing a try and Lake Conroe looks like a good place to start.
Hi Marchel, that price is certainly a deal! You took excellent photos!
Sailing is something I'd love to do but Colorado isn't the place to do it...
Marchel - beautiful photographs, and that looks like a great time. Good informative post!
RICK, Sailing is so relaxing. Now my husband got in to sailboat racing and I don't find that nearly as relaxing but I just help with the committe boat.
CARL and CEIL, I have sailed on your beautiful lake and LOVE it. Our lake is quite different than yours as it surrounded by houses and it is all bulk headed.
JENNIFER, We actually got in to sailing after moving here. We can sail for about 10 months out of the year living here.
MARY KAY, We have a Catalina 22. Our first boat was the newer version but the second boat is the older version as it is 500 pounds lighter. My husband decided to get in to racing and it is all about the weight.
JOAN, We have loved sailing at Lake Conroe. We are in two sailing clubs at the lake.
JANE, You are right it is all about the camera. We have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi. I love it!
WILLIAM, Thanks! It was a fun day but it was very windy that day. It made it hard to fly those pretty spinnakers. One guys was ripped in half from the wind; although it was an old sail.
LARRY, That is a sea plane in the background. Since the spinnakers were only up for a short time I ended up with more pictures of the sea plane than the sailboats (lol)
TERAL, Sailing can be a lot of work but it is fun and the price is right. We fill up our 4 gallon gas tank about once a season.
JACKIE, Lake Conreo Sailing Association is a deal and we have events going on all year.
CHERISE, We lived 15 years in Colorado and NEVER thought of sailing. That water is just too COLD! Having lived here you know that our water is like bathwater in the summertime.
SHARON, It was a fun time. Next week we will be having a long distance race and that should be fun also.
Howdy and evening to you Marchel
What a mighty fine look lake y'all have there in Spring, Texas to enjoy having fun at. I have head the Bass fishing is real good at Lake Conroe.
I sure did enjoy looking at your photos.

Marchel, that looks like a lot of fun. I hope you get to spend a lot of time on the water this Summer.
Marchel, Looks like a beautiful day for sailing. Haven't been since my Navy days, and was much better with metal warships than sailing craft!
Bill
Marchel~
Oh to set sail! Thanks for this inspiring photo journey...
Great pictures. At one point it looks like it might have been getting alittle stormy.
Marchel, I love the photos and sailing looks like so much fun. Since I'm a landlubber, I had to look up the word spinnaker, Marchel ;-)
Lake Conroe is where I learned to water ski because my uncle with the ski boat lived in Tomball. Then, when I bought a Hobie Cat in 1977, that's where I always went sailing.
Marchel - $35.00 a year is such a deal! Your photos make one feel free as the wind. I especially like that last photo!
Marchel,
That looks like so much fun!!
