This picture was taken a few weeks ago at one of Lake Conroe Sailing Association's Thursday night races. My husband crews and I help on the committee boat. We never know what the weather is going to be like and it can change in the flick of an eye. We ended the race early because of those weird clouds you see (I did not photo-shop this picture). As it turned out this time the clouds turned to nothing but you do have to be careful when you are on the water.
One of the many things we love about Spring is the accessiblity to Lake Conroe. You don't have to live on the lake to sail on the lake.

I'm glad to hear the storm didn't come through, but those clouds sure made for a nice backdrop to the sailboat.
Hi Marchel, I am guessing that you and husband love sailing and I remember my course on the waterway, Rules of the Road about yielding to any weather threatening weather condition.
That looks like three separate layers of clouds. Interesting and beautiful.
Marchel -- what a photo! I think you should enter this one in the next contest! Amazing.
Hi Marchel: That is a beautiful photo, you should definitely enter it in a photo contest or maybe the state fair.
Marchel,
Neat photo, I love those clouds. We don't have nearly as many of them here and most other places. When we do have a day with clouds I take as many photos as I can.
Marchel,
Nice to see you here and awesome / spectacular shot, :) I have been away from the rain but I was checking your great blogs, take care :)
When we lived in Huntsville we took our boat to Lake Conroe all the time! Love the crazy clouds in the photo. Great shot!
I love that middle layer of clouds and how the sun is illuminating it, Marchel. Beautiful photo!!!
Great shot Marchel! What a fantastic way to spend a day, but you're right life on the water changes in an instant. You were smart to head in!
Hi Marchel, that is beautiful photo. That big puffy white cloud really sets off the white sail on the boat.
Hi Marchel, Great photo. While I love a clear blue sky, I also love looking at the beautiful clouds formations we have been having lately.
Hi Marchel - those cloudss did look like they were building, and it is a great photo.
The weather does look like it's threatening, but at the same time, this is a lovely picture. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Marchel, I don't blame you for cutting it short, I would hate to get caught in a storm on a sail boat.
Marchel, I focused on the photo and how you caught the essence of the storm. I had an incredible sight last night of storm clouds (similiar to those in yours) and sunset which was beautiful but my camera didn't come close to capturing its essence. Lake Conroe looks like a beautiful place to be.
Marchel, you gotta winner with this photo! Clouds, water, sailboats, weather....who could ask for anything more?
that is a fantastic photo Marchel!!! I love living so close to Lake Conroe ... but a sailboat trumps it all!!!!!!!
Marchel - That is a beautifully composed picture! I love the clouds, the colors, and the boat beneath. It reminds me of a saying that was on John Kennedy's desk, "Oh God, the sea is so big, and my boat is so small."
Congratulations on having this blog FEATURED in the PHOTOS group!
Marchel glad to see I am not the only cloud watcher. Looking at the cloud usually result in daydream which sometime is a great escape.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
GEORGINA, I have been on the lake when the storms come through so have learned it is better to be safe than sorry.
WILLIAM, We do love sailing! Our love started in the San Diego Bay and has only kept growing. Now my husband loves racing which I don't so the committee boat works great for me. We set the marks and then bring out the wine and cheese.
JIM, That is why I said that I didn't photoshop it. It almost looks surreal.
JOAN, Do they have a sailboat contest? LOL
STEVE, I took photography in 4-H many years ago but I got a white on my entry (which is not good). It would have been so much easier in this day and age.
LYNDA, We had some dreamy clouds today. I was itching to grab my camera but was in the car without it.
RAY, I have missed you in the rain. I'm glad to see you back.
JONI, When did you live in Huntsville? Huntsville is probably about the same distance to Lake Conroe as we are.
BRUCE, I think the middle layer is my favorite also. We had lots of those clouds today!
AL & PEGGY, I was raised with a big respect for the water. We were motor boaters back then and now have progressed to sail boats. There's nothing quite like sailing on the water.
MARY, You are right that big puffy cloud does make the white sail stand out.
SHIRLEY, I love the bright blue sky with the white puffy clouds! Although those white puffy clouds can change to dark clouds in a flicker of an eye.
SHARON, They did look like they were building then poof they were gone. After we came in of course.
ANNE, The weather looked threatening and then poof it was gone. Oh well better to be safe than sorry.
GEORGE, I have memories of being caught on the water in a storm and I don't want to replicate those memories.
TERAL, Our camera does a great job of capturing clouds; now if I could just figure out how to capture the moon. I keep trying but so far no luck.
MARY KAY, Clouds, sailboat, water, weather; it just doesn't get much better than that.
PIPPA, You should come and join us sometime. Lake Conroe Sailing Association is open to anyone; you don't have to own a sailboat.
MYRL, I am flattered that you featured my post. I have never been able to figure photoshop out so when I take a picture it is what it is.
JENNIFER, I love watching clouds and figuring out what I think they look like. I was itching for my camera today but we were driving.
Very cool shot!
Marchel, very nice photo. I've always thought sailing would be something I'd like to try...I guess that's another experience to put on the bucket list.
Hi Marchel - I love the big white billowy clouds we see this time of year ... just wish they would bring a little more rain to the desert.
One thing we have learned living at Canyon Lake TX and spending time at the coast always look up and watch those clouds. If you hear thunder in the background best head for shore. Always respect how quickly weather can change. Beautiful photo of those threatening clouds.
Marchel,
I missed you as well, about the phone that is coming on August 11th, it's a great one, you should go for it ! you will not regret it, Samsung has one of the best images on their phones, so you will be very happy with this kind of phones, also you'll see all the things that you can do with this great one.
hahaha, you are funny about the weather, here in colorado is kind of similar, sometimes you never know what is goint to happen, as always great shot and take care !
Marchel From the look of those clouds I think shutting fown the race was appropriate
Marchel, this needs to be in Clouds at Active Rain Group! What an amazing shot of clouds. You don't often see the low lying ones with the cumulonimbus clouds. Definitely some weather in those clouds.
Marchel, I did not take 4H so I have no idea what a white is, it is nice that photography has changed so much. Now when you take a bad picture you just hit delete rather than having it developed and then having to throw it out, storage is much easier now too.
Very nice shot Marchel. I am a big fan of water. Like everyone else I would love to have a waterfront home.
Nice Shot! Love the clouds!
Marchel, that is one powerful and beautiful photo you have captured. When I saw it all I could think and say is WoW! :)
Marchel, Beautiful sky and scenery. I'd imagine that you have had your share of downpours and dances with thunder storms. Not much defense on the open water.
Gloria
Hello Marchel and what a beautiful photograph and some breath-taking clouds. I am so glad I came around and found this post because it's been a few days and I may have missed it. And your post has been featured at one of my favorite groups at AR ...
CLOUDS AT ACTIVERAIN (clouds attached)
VB ;-)
DEBRA, Thanks! It was one of those shots where I was at the right time at the right place.
NICK, We started sailing when we moved to Texas and we love it. You should take the plunge.
JOHN, We have been very dry also! We had some rain yesterday but not enough!
CARL & CEIL, A few times being caught on the lake made us believers!
RAY, UGH, my phone did not come out on August 11th. I heard August 20th but now I'm hearing the 31st. I guess it is a stealth release!
KAREN, In a sailboat race and weather it is always better to be safe than sorry.
SHARON, I did put it in Clouds at Active Rain and it looks like it just got featured in that group.
STEVE, In 4-H there were three groups. Blue was best, then red and white sucked (lol).
BILL, We have always been attracted to the water! I would also love to live on the water; maybe someday.
CAROL, I love cloud pictures!
LAUREN, It was one of those times where I was at the right place at the right time.
GLORIA, Sailing you learn to respect the weather!
ROBERT, Thanks for featuring my cloud picture. It is one of my favorite pictures ever! Right time, Right place!
Don't look now!
But that boat is being followed by a monster.
Hope it doesn't get swallowed.
