Blue heron flight at Lake Conreo!!

Blue Heron flight at Lake Conroe

One of the many things we like about living in Spring is the accessibility to Lake Conroe.  Today we went out to the lake for the day.  I'm constantly trying to get pictures of Blue Heron and as soon as they see me they take off.  This guy did not see me right away so he got his picture taken and then of course he took off.

TERAL, We actually don't live at the lake like Joni; we just visit a lot.

JOAN, Myrl wrote a post telling us how to do it and I have been using it ever since.  Here's Myrl's post!

ANNA, If we had weather like this all year long everyone would want to live here

GARY, I love the blue herons also but they are hard to get picutres of.

JONI, I visit them at the lake.  In my backyard I have fake ones (lol)

KRISTINE, I love watching blue herons take flight.  This was a rare heppening to get their picture.

DICK & DIXIE, They are beautiful!  I love to watch them!

JUDI, I love watching water birds!  We also have a Bald Eagle and an Osprey out there but I have yet to get their picture.

SILVIA, Blue Herons are sooooooooo elegant in flight!

ELIZABETH, Conroe is actually about 30 minutes from Spring but it isn easy commute.

AIDA, Quite some time ago Myrl made a how to post about animation from paint shop.  Here's the post!

MARIA, See Aida's comment about!  The only quirky think is that you have to upload to your own site and then use that URL.

CHRIS, I have loved using this ever since I saw Myrl's post.

Marchel, some very cool shots of the Blue Heron. We have them here also - they have a funny squawk they make when they fly over sometimes. We had one who did it every evening one year as he flew over. Hsbr you heard them 'talk'?

They are difficult to get pictures of. The only ones here that don't fly away are in Flamingo Lagoon at the Zoo. I guess they feel protected there.

What a great series of photos!  I especially like the ones where the bird is in full flight.

Absolutely first rate in the way you re-created your experience of witnessing this heron fly! Thank you for allowing me to see it too!

STEVE, I love herons also.  I have two fake ones in our back yard but I don't think our little pond is going to attract the real ones.

TERI, I was fairly close to this heron and he obviously did not see me (lol).

ANN, Thank you!

SHARON, I have to be honest I have not heard the blue heron talk; I guess maybe I need to listen.

DEEDEE, Thanks!  I enjoy putting these slide shows together.

JENNIFER, We did not have them at all in Colorado but have enjoyed them here and when we lived North Carolina.

Posted by Marchel Peterson, Spring TX Real Estate E-Pro (Results Realty) almost 8 years ago

SHEILA, I had the most incredible blue heron experience when we lived in North Carolina.  We had a snow/ice storm and backed to a little lake and this blue heron was carefully walking across the ice on the lake. I expected it to fall through at anytime but it did not.

JOSHUA, Actually I love the outdoor photography but my husband takes the indoor pictures and WOW does he do a good job.  So yes they get the benefit of his photography.

ERIC, If the blue heron sees  you coming they are GONE.  I'm learning to sneak up on them.

MIKE, I love the blue heron in flight also.  They are such a majestic bird.

EMILY, I thank you for coming by my blog.

Marchel, the blue heron is an amazing bird and they sure know how to fish!  We have one that occasionally fishes off our back yard and they are so patient and efficient!

Marchel--I just love reading your posts.  You write about such different things than we see here in Indiana.  I agree with some of the others.  You make me long for the water!!

GARY, I have loved doing the animated post.  I'm glad Myrl shared that way back when.

BRUCE, How incredible to have a blue heron fishing off your backyard.  We had that when we lived in North Carolina but now I just have the fake ones.

LEILANI, Thanks!  I love the blue heron.

MARGARET, The blue heron eating his fish was the picture that got away from me.  OH MY I wish I had my camera when I saw that but I will always have the memory.

Marchel, these Blue Herons are absolutely beautiful.  Where else could we see them at Lake Conroe than on your blog.  Great, very pretty post.  <ps... check your title>
